Environmental impact of population growth

Commissioned by the Ministry for Environment SERI has calculated the environmental impact of population growth in Luxemburg.

Four sectors were analysed

  1. energy consumption
  2. traffic
  3. land
  4. waste

SERI shows that it is not inevitable that the growth of population and the economy will reduce the quality of life in Luxemburg. The factors population growth, economic growth and resource consumption are in a non-linear relation. This results in higly diverse trends of environmental pressure.
