SERI recommends the monthly SOL-meeting:

Fr, 18 may: “Living together solidarily in a housing project”

Programme: Cooking and eating together, followed by a discussion group in which the housing project “Gennesaret” is presented and SOL includes the global aspect of solidarity. Registration: vera@besse.at, 0699/ 11 24 12 59

Time: 18 may 2012, 16:30-22:00 (discussion group starts at 19:30)

New glossary on the protection of resources published by the German Federal Environmental Agency

The Federal Environmental Agency (UBA) was founded in 1974 and is the central environmental agency in Germany. Until 2015, the issue of “balancing the protection and use of natural resources” is one of the main focal points of the UBA strategy. UBA has broad competences on the protection of all natural resources. This includes renewable as well as non-renewable resources, the physical environment, water, earth and air, as well as biodiversity, sun and wind.

In order to establish the protection of resources as a central issue which is equally important as climate change within the environmental sciences and to develop a common understanding of the linkages, a common and clear usage of terms is of great importance. The aim of the glossary on the protection of resources is to create a basis for a logical coherence of the most important terms, to separate them clearly from each other and thus to offer a better profile to the scientific, political and public discussion on the protection of natural resources. The glossary can be downloaded here in German language.

EURA Conference 2012

The EURA Conference 2012 will take place in Vienna from 20th to 22nd September.

Cities are both drivers of economic, technological and organisational development and the places of remarkable social change. The conference “Urban Europe – Challenges to Meet the Urban Future” reflects the actual urban situations and the main challenges and outlines outcomes and solutions.

New report on resource use in Austria
